8.12.2017 Schalke 04`s heroism went to the trash

A week after the epic derby against Borussia (Dortmund) in which Schalke 04 made four goals behind, the Gelsenkirchen team disappointed with a 2-2 home win against the weakest rival in the Bundesliga, Cologne. In this way, the miners failed to take the Leipzig from second place, and the most happy were in Bayern Munich because the advance of the champions was up to 6 points.

Schalke led twice against Cologne, but the guests managed to catch up and in the last few seconds defended with 9 people on the pitch. This is only a third match of the goats without loss, as the only ones continue to be without victory and the difference with the first team over the line swelled to 9 points.

Guido Bourgesteler realized his goal-goal on the King`s side in the 37th minute, but six minutes after the resumption of the game, Seru Girassi was correct for 1:1. Drewmund, Amin Arrit, gave Schalke a new shot in the 73rd minute, but five later Girassi again equalized - this time from a penalty, the decision of which was taken after looking at the repeat.


The final of the Feltins Arena was dramatic and the hosts attacked with all the strength. In the last minute of regular time Naldo, who equalized for 4:4 against Borussia, again hit his head dangerously, but this time the ball passed inches from the goal. In the added time, Cologne came to an attack where Yuya Osako fell into the penalty area and Arbiter Tobias Shielder felt it was a simulation and picked up a second yellow card for the Japanese. But that was not the end, because then 17-year-old defender Jan Bisek received a heavy blow to the head and could not continue the match. This gave the hosts a chance to attack with two more players but no winning goal was scored.
