13.03.2026 Klopp no longer wants to work as a coach: I don’t miss it, I enjoyed life after leaving. I visited many countries for work, but saw nothing. Been to two weddings in 25 years, one of them was mine

Jurgen Klopp has no plans to return to coaching. Last season I watched several Liverpool games. But there was no such thing: Oh, Saturday! I didn`t know when the match started.  I was just walking. I went in for sports. Enjoyed life and spent time with my grandchildren. Absolutely normal things. I knew I would work, but I also knew I didn`t want to coach anymore.
Now I think so [that I will never work as a coach]. But you never know for sure. I`m 58.  If I resume my career at 65, everyone will say: You said you`d never do that again! Well, sorry, I was 100 percent sure when I said that.  That`s what I think now. I don`t miss anything.
I didn`t plan to coach for the rest of my life.  I haven`t missed anything in my life because I never thought about it. Over these 25 years, I have been to two weddings: one was mine, the other was two months ago.  I`ve been to the cinema four times in 25 years - all in the last eight weeks. It`s nice that I now have this opportunity.
As a coach, I have visited many different countries, but have never seen anything in them: only a hotel, a stadium or a training ground. It didn`t bother me then, but it would bother me now.
Now I have a choice.  I can go on vacation, and I decide when. Well, okay, [my wife] Ulla decides (laughs).  But this is not decided by the Premier League or the Bundesliga.
I`m not bored.  I`m still in football, I`m still at work, in my usual environment. But every day I learn something new, ” said the former Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Mainz coach, who works as head of football at Red Bull.
