Last Wednesday the head of the scout unit of Newcastle United Graham Carr left the club. And that was not a huge surprise given that it was widely known that the manager Rafael Benitez had requested his dismissal after securing his return back to the Premier League at the end of the last season. At the same time, however, the case left a feeling of importance.
It was significant because it took almost a month to happen, which it seems difficult to explain. or at least it would have been difficult to explain at a well and smoothly managed club. Everything suggests that the removal of the man who had brought a bunch of players from the French League 1 and had won an exaggerated reputation when few immediately proved to be good recruits, is not supported by consensus at the club and that the manager is facing a clash with internal opposition.
